New Particle Discovered in Antarctica?
Hello, my name is Jaeyoon Kim.
In this blog, I want to post some interesting ideas, news and and facts about Chemistry because I just passionately love Chemistry and hope others to learn about it. Though you might not feel interested in to this field, but I still want you to be entertained and thrilled how wonderful science, especially chemistry is.
Lately, it was reported that new particle has been discovered by the International Joint Research crews in Antarctica. The scientists and researchers call them Intergalactic Particles, in Korea, scientists called them Ghost/Phantom particle. These particles barely have masses of 0kg and they do not have any electrical charges. They call it "Phantom" because it is believed that this particle is so tiny that it can penetrate any substance on earth. It also rarely interact with just few things in this universe. Some say that the particles are from outer space.

For now, there is no clue what these particles are made out of, or what they are used for. Since they are discovered recently, it seems those research crews are planning on inspecting and scrutinize these phantom particles and try to discover more in the deep iceberg in Antarctica. Personally, I am very excited to see more information about this mystical substance, and I think it would be very interesting and mind blowing for other scientists to research and study about them.
At first, when I read the article, it was absolutely incredible information to see because it was not only this situation was not expected for people, but it will also influence scientists a lot for further studying in this field. Actually, this particle was first hypothesized by the University Record in 1995, saying that the new phantom particle could be a substance that holds the universe together. I think not only from this article in 1995, there were innumerable amount of hypothesis and theories about the particles, but I think-I am not certain- that this time was the first time that this particle was actually discovered and proved those scientists that they were correct.
Personally, I am really into chemistry and hope to study it in college. And it would be a great experience for me to study these types of particles. Most people won't care about this things, thinking it is to subtle to care about and to be interested in. In addition, there are also many controversies among the chemist and physicists still arguing if this Phantom Particle truly exists.
